A little something for the weekend


One of the advantages of living near Adriano Zumbo's Patisserie is being able to sample the new creations as they arrive.
One of the disadvantages is sudden, unaccountable weight gain around the midriff area - muffin top, anyone?

Another disadvantage is that a 'new' Zumbo cake appears that you don't think you've had before, and it turns out to be a 'work in progress' - the original cake has evolved into something different, yet the same.

Here are two cases in point:

Still a great pear of.
The green icing has been replaced by a square of green marzipan and a candied almond.

What the?? This is the cake formerly known as 'Blackcurrant', now called 'Vitamin C'.
And it's covered in jester's hat spines that are actually blackcurrant-y macarons.  And I saw them and I ate them and liked them very much.

  1. Woah! That's insane! I had the "before" What a nice pear of.. but think the second one is cuter. And wowsers to the Vitamin C. I want that because it looks crazy and sounds yummy; a dessert covered in macarons - can a girl ask for more?

  4. The Blackcurrant/Vitamin C has definitely undergone a major reconstruction. However, I do like the porcupine-iness of the teardrop bits and would love to pick them off to eat one by one.

  11. Ah, the double-edged sword you must contend with. It must really test the willpower (or the wallet) :)

    Found it interesting that he evolves various cakes over a period of time. Was a bit of a surprise the first time I came across it but kind of expect that sort of thing nowadays.

    I did notice that with previous seasons as well, the mods and changes some cakes undergo

  15. Let's not talk about muffin tops, please. My past fortnight of beer and cheese and tortilla and cheese and salsa and cheese is taking its toll. Thank god I am even further away from Zumbo creations than usual.

  16. Really interesting to see how they continuously evolve their creations. Love the look of Vitamin C. So, do they call you when a new creation is released now? They should!
